Free falling Part 2

I so wish I had my bigger telephoto on for this shot! This was his first upswing from his first jump. He was raising his hands and helling WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!! you could see the excitement in his face and hear it in his voice.

OK Not really LOL But I'm sure it felt like that for just a few moments! Until the end of the bungee and you are violently snapped back to reality!

My 14 year old son and 2 of his friends went Bungee Jumping today! We took Jesse and one of the other parents took the other 2. The kids had to save and pay for it them selves! Not a cheap thing the very first time! 99+ tax for 2 jumps. But now that they have jumped before, if they bring new jumpers they get to jump for 25 or free if they bring 2 :-).

They jumped from the Highest Bungee spot in the United States. 20 stories from the ground, at the end of your bungee your head is a mear 15 feet from the water, and on the recoil your head is a mear 12 feet from the bridge. My husband said it was really cool to watching them swing up on the opposite side of the bridge from where they jump. I was to chicken to look LOL I stood back closer to land where I felt safer LOL My photo's are not the greatest as my battery started going dead as we got there grrrrrrrr! ( yes I know I need to get a battery back up !)

My dream now is to some day Print out one of my Art works, in large print we are talking 20X30 or larger and Then Take paint and build paint up in places. It is hard to explain, but I can see what I want in my mind!

I used 2 photo's to make this one picture. The moon is its own photo I placed in to the photo of a seagull. I added lighting and texture to it to make it an image instead of a photo.

Baby Spiders

I went in my bedroom yesterday and as I walked past the window, I saw the back side of this. Just hatched baby spiders. I grabbed My camera and ran out side, to my surprise there was a second ball of just hatched baby spiders just below the window . The second Picture is what happens if you gently blow on them! It really gives you an Idea of just how many there were.

At the boys last track meet we had some unexpected guest show up. It felt like when you have sky divers start a show or something LOL They didn't seem to mind that there were several 100 children running around jumping and throwing things. and then ALL those parents, grandparents and siblings of those 100's of children. We are talking close to if not more then a 1000 people.

They landed in the center of the field ( the one place not being used) and just strutted around like they owned the place :-)

We took the kids to the lake to go fishing yesterday evening. As we where talking about packing up to leave a Hawk took one last dive at the lake to grab a last evening meal. Then flew off in to the hills. I really liked this shot, I thought it said it all about a wonderful evening at the lake.

I just loved this view! It looked like someone had just brushed the snow off half the mountain. You can see just how deep the snow is to the right. That is A LOT of snow! I wonder how or why it just stops like that.

This is the river that flows down Mt. St. Helen's. See all the grayish stuff? That is all ash and crap from the eruption in 80. The mud/ash path is much wider then this, but this gives you a good idea Just how deep it is by looking at the walls of it here.

I'm posting this picture not so much for the blossom as I am the back ground. Flora and macro photographers are always trying to get the perfect non distracting back ground. I just love the color of this back ground and how there is no detail in it. Don't get me wrong sometimes detail is good in the back ground if done correctly but for me, I just love this sort of background.

I liked this photo becuase it shows 3 stages of the Apple blossoms. The bright red on the right is the buds just verily starting to grown, then you have the wide open blossoms, but in the center right is a pink bud that has not opened yet but oh so on the verge. I'm guessing by this morning it is full open like the others.

Wonder what he/she is looking at?

When my husband worked at Wildlife Safari as part of their training they had to walk through the drive through area ( except for the lion area and bear area) They had to learn how to handle the animals in case of emergency. Any way, They were Told NOT to touch the Cheetah's. For obvious reasons. They are basically wild animals aloud to run free in a large in closer. Well one of them took a liking to Dave! He wounds its self around his legs like a common house cat the whole time he was walking through. This is when we learned that BIG cats purr like domestic cats!

It was one of the Biggest thrills of his life to have such a Majestic but deadly creature decide she liked him!

I planted Tulips in the strip between the street and the side walk. You know that no mans land the city or county owns but you have to take care of! LOL Any way these little weeds have gone wild between each budding Tulip, but when you look closely they really are a pretty little flower. To bad they will be all gone shortly! :-)

I don't often get the opportunity to get a shot of the girls together! The one on the Left is the newest addition to the house, we have had her for 6 months and well the old girl on the right just has not wanted to have anything to do with her, until this last couple weeks. She has lessened her hissing and growling ( yes cats growl!) and has attempted to play a little!

The one on the left is a Spotted tabby, most of her dark markings are more of spots then stripes, then the one on the right is a striped tabby, you got it she has swirls of stripes in stead of the spots LOL

This was shot from my car window. There had been a mud slide that took out half the road, so they had stop lights up to let one lane go at at time. As you can imagine you get to wait a while. The HW to the coast and back is pretty busy on the weekends. Any way We where lucky to get stopped just next to this little falls. So me being me started snapping photos :-)

I was out taking pictures of my budding blooming flowers yesterday and when I was going through them again this am I found this guy. Either He is an avid rocker ( would fit in to this house well 3 our of 4 love to rock!) Or he is the spawn of the Lucifer. What do you think?

NOTE: This is just a joke, I do not believe in the devil and I sure as heck don't think he is spawning children in the form of flowers in my yard! Just so we have that clear LOL

I have been shooting this tulip as it grows. It's at the point you can see the petals just under the outer skin. For this image I used a bit of texture to just add a little to it.

Ever Seen Moss Bloom?

I have always thought some mosses are pretty and add to the colors of nature, but I had never seen it bloom. That is until the other day when I was out shooting some macro shots.

This photo at full size really is better then this limited size, the leaves look almost translucent and jelloy.

This is a water droplet left after a rain.
I really liked how the light played on the big in focus drop. The Light reflects through the water and lights up parts of the leaf around it.

I was playing with my lens's the other day, and I thought it was kind of neat to see the size difference in the moon. Basically The difference in the magnification of the lens. The on on the Left is with a 28 -135 mm lens with a 1.5 teleconverter on it making it a 202.5 mm lens .The one on the Left was a 70-300 with the 1.5 teleconverter on it making it a 450 mm lens. In the full Sized Photo of the left one, you can actually see the craters at the bottom of the moon very cool!

So I have seen bees and Now the woodpeckers are back! This guy and what I'm assuming was a gal where playing on the roof of my neighbors house. Last year I only had one of these types hanging out in my yard, this year we have a pair! I hope they are nested close by! I would love to watch them teach their young in my back yard with my bug infested tree!

Getting His fill

I was out taking photo's of the our truck and I walked by a group of flowers and this guy was busy getting pollen from each and every flower in this cluster. He could care less I was walking around him with my tripod and camera. He would get his fill of one flower then move on to the next.

It is beautiful here today, in the upper 50's a light breeze and lots of sun! I guess the conditions where prefect for this guy.

Sunrise Cactus

This is a Sunrise Cactus. The blooms open in the am and close in the evening as the sun sets. There are a very vibrant pink! ( OK again I found more pink LOL ) I can not wait for summer to get here so it will start blooming. The blooms take for ever to grow and reach maturity and open.

From My car Window

I want to start a new series of photo's. I'm going to call it From My Car window. It will be pictures I snap from my car as we drive from place to place. Some will be through the glass others will be with the windows down ( depending on speed and weather LOL) I just thought it would be neat to show what I see on our drives. I'm not sure how often I will post these types of photo's. I guess it will depend on the reactions I get.

This is going from the east side of the Willamette river to the West side, I liked how the building just disappeared in to the fog over the City.

I noticed recently the local gang of Crows where back in town. Then the other day I was out side and heard several song birds. I noticed a Blue bird in the apple tree.

Ms. Robin landed not to far away from me,although she was not being very photogenic this day. This was the best shot I got of her. Most of them are her behind all those scraggly branches.

I guess I need to go clean out all the feeders and get them up so I can start getting some shots of the birds in my back yard.

Life in the Pacific Northwest

OK Not really just life with my husband and 2 sons!

I was told they were replacing the bushings on my not so old truck ( the rubber peaces that keep the body from rubbing the frame.) I thought this was odd since the truck is verily 4 years old, but we do drive in the surf when ever we go to the ocean so my husband explained to me it was from the salt water corroding them.

Well I walked out in to the garage unnoticed yesterday and found it was not really a bushing replacement, Well sort of but not really! They are doing a lift kit on my truck so he can get bigger tires.

He tried to convince me it was a surprise for me LOL he even convinced our boys it was a surprise for me. Lets just say he is lucky its only a 3 inch lift!! I really didn't want to lift my truck any more then it is, it was high enough for me. MEN, I swear there is more to the Tim Allen more power thing then people really want to let on to.

So we are on Day 3 of my only vehicle being in peaces in my garage! Now my husband was a mechanic when I met him so its nothing to do with he doesn't' know what he is doing. It is that there where a few bolts that didn't want to come out so easily LOL! We are down to 1 bold that doesn't want to come out. Once its out it will be a snap to put all back together.

The worst part is, we usually have fairly mild temps here in the PNW. So since my husband chose this long weekend to work on the truck our temps decided to plummet to the mid teens over night and mid 30's during the day! NOT the 50's we are suppose to have later this week hehe poor guy!

I have to confess I can not wait tell its all done the lift, the new tires, the new nerf bars( there is another post as to why we need these!) , and the brush guard on the front! It will look very nice!

WOW I don't think I have ever posted so much On this blog! I usually leave my ramblings for my other blog.

I originally took this photo because of the way the grass blades grew though the dead leaf interested me.

I was not happy with the way the photo came out So I took it in to PSP and then PS . I added a couple paint filters then some lighting. This is more of the vision I had of the photo before I snapped it. Over all it was a very simple alter process, but I feel effective.

Death Of Beauty

The Wilting flower drew my attention. I thought that even though it was dieing it still offered emotion and feeling. I took this the same day I took the Photo Friday blurred photo's.

I can not wait for my flowers to bloom so I can take pictures of uncut flowers. As pretty as they are, I'm itching to be out in the yard and sun shooting.

With all the rain we had, I decided to use it to my advantage LOL. I took this shot out my back door, I was not particularly happy with it. It was one of the very first shots with the new telephoto I took. It was slightly out of focus and grainy.

So I did a bit of Editing and I came up with this. I call it Night Rain.

I used Colored Edges, and then added the bubbles and moved then to make them look like drops of water.

My son found this little guy as he was locking the door yesterday. We where headed out so I just snapped a few pictures of him. No time to set up the shot or use a tripod. I carry my camera in my purse. Yes I bought a purse to accommodate my dSLR case with a short lens on it LOL. Is that addiction or what??

Any way It was warm enough to awaking this fellow but not warm enough for him to move very fast. Poor guy we are headed for some cold weather and chance of snow at the end of this week.

WOOHOOO anything but Rain will work for me! LOL

I had hoped he would still be there this morning but he is not :-( I was going to go back out with my other lens and set up a few shots. I guess I will have to look for him again when it warms up.
